What we do
Read On - Write Away! has rapidly gained the reputation as one of the best examples of a community-focused literacy and Skills for Life initiative in the UK. It is also well-known for the wide range of innovative and exciting projects it develops.
In its infancy, research into existing successful developments and interventions, gave ROWA! a good solid base of strategies, such as Books for Babies and Bradford's Better Reading Partnership, on which to build.
As ROWA! has grown it has acquired a talented team of staff with expertise covering all aspects and phases of literacy and Skills for Life, and has, therefore, been well-placed and well-equipped to pilot many national strategies, such as Skills for Families and Valu£able Skills. It is also able to attract external funding, such as Millennium Volunteers, European Social Fund, Eeols, and Esmee Fairbairn, for projects within Derbyshire and Derby City.
