Talking Partners
Click here to find out about our next Talking Partners training sessions
Developed by EducationBradford this rigorous strategy has helped hundreds of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire children achieve a breakthrough in communication skills. Teaching Assistants (or experienced volunteers) are trained as 'Talking Partners' who work with children in age groups Reception to Year 4. Talking Partners is an excellent intervention for supporting Reading Recovery.
Talking Partners is designed for children from Reception to Year 4 who have poorly developed speaking and listening skills. Each Partner works with a group of three children for three 20 minute sessions per week for 10 weeks. Talking Partners supports the skills taught in the Foundation and KS1 Literacy Strategies. The pack contains everything needed to encourage children to listen carefully and to speak productively. All materials, including photocopy masters, are supplied.
Apart from staff/volunteer time, the cost of implementing Talking Partners is minimal.
Training takes place over 3 days (9.00 am to 12.30 pm)
The costs are £110 per person or up to 6 FREE delegates if you can host the training at your school and help to find 12 delegates from other schools to attend the training. The host school would be responsible for providing a suitable space, furniture, refreshments and lunches for up to 20 adults.
