Training

Push On Writing!

Developed exclusively for Read On - Write Away!, this strategy has motivated hundreds of Derbyshire children to become enthusiastic and creative writers. Adult volunteers (or Teaching Assistants) are given a wealth of strategies and the confidence to encourage reluctant writers.

Two days training for partners - with one teacher per school attending on the second day only. Our training days are 'volunteer friendly', from 9.30 am to 2.45 pm.

All materials, including games, software and photocopiable masters, are supplied.

POW! is designed for children who have adequate reading skills but constantly fail to produce good writing and are therefore unlikely to reach the national average in KS2 English SAT. Groups of three children receive two 30 minute sessions per week for 10 weeks.

Originally designed for Years 5 to 7, POW! has been adapted by schools for use across all key stages. Many schools suffering from an excess of 'withdrawal groups have built POW! into the Literacy Hour. Once partners have their own POW! kit, there is virtually nothing extra to buy.

Training for individual schools is from £950 + expenses.
