Stick At It!

5 Minute Activities

C) Research Activities (without using the internet):

14. TV Planning: you will need a TV listings magazine. Use the magazine to plan some TV viewing or to find out when and how often a certain programme is on. Scanning for information is a valuable skill for reading.

15. Favourite Meal: you will need a cook book. Use the book to find recipes that your child likes and read about how to make the meal.

16. Catalogues: use any catalogue - make use of the contents or index to help find the section that you would like to look at. Read and compare the details for different items and talk about what would make you choose one thing over another.

17. Use a telephone directory: use the Yellow Pages or a similar directory to find out about local services, eg cinemas, bowling alleys.
