Projects - Family Learning

The Weather Project


  • A 15 week programme of numeracy activities with a weather theme, leading to a numeracy qualification for parents/carers.
  • Suitable for parents/carers of primary school children who would like to improve/brush up on their own numeracy skills and learn skills to support their children in numeracy.
  • 10 sessions of activity based learning where children join in for the last 30 minutes.
  • 5 sessions of parent/carer learning only where parents work towards an entry level qualification in numeracy.
  • Activities include:
    • Kite making (and flying!)
    • Making a weather station
    • Recording the weather and organising data
    • Designing, making and playing games
  • Course also includes a family learning day out with a numeracy theme.
  • We are hoping that this activity based programme will attract Dads as well as Mums!
