Stick at It! - motivational reading project piloted with families of Children in Care in Derby and Derbyshire.

ROWA! was approached by Derbyshire's Looked After Children Education Service to develop a scheme to help parents of Children in Care support their children's reading development. Working with the Parenting Officers in Derbyshire and Derby, along with library staff, ROWA! produced a scheme which was piloted in both areas during the spring and early summer. Entitled "Stick at It!", this 10 week reading programme includes training sessions for the families and encourages visits to libraries. It has been designed not only to help improve reading ages, but also to try to establish a love of books and a reading culture within the families.
