What we do

Projects - Family Learning

Keeping Up with the Kids - Literacy or Numeracy

  • The programme will focus on either primary literacy or primary numeracy and consists of 6 x 2 hour sessions.
  • Parents and carers learn how literacy/numeracy is taught in the Primary Curriculum.
  • Parents also have the opportunity to begin to improve their own literacy/ numeracy skills.

It is recognised that parents play an important part in their children's learning, but many do not feel confident in their own ability to be able to do this. Each session will boost their confidence through discussion and practical activities which encourage skills in: reading, writing, spelling, listening, speaking, for the literacy course and counting, money, measures, time etc for the numeracy course.

The scheme of work is structured to allow schools to request a specific literacy of numeracy focus.
