Family Reading Matters

ROWA! has been asked to take part in the pilot of Family Reading Matters, a national initiative, managed by the National Literacy Trust and funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families.  Family Reading Matters is piloting the difference that a dedicated strategic approach can make to supporting literacy in the home to benefit both children and their parents, with a particular focus on Early Years.  Angela Packwood was appointed as the Co-ordinator during the first year of the pilot. The second phase of the pilot project has been renamed PARTNERS IN LITERACY and we are looking forward to seeing how this pilot project will unfold over the next year or so, both in Derbyshire and in the other three pilot areas, Wiltshire, Sheffield and Knowsley. For more information about the Derbyshire PiL project visit the Partners In Literacy pages on the ROWA! website or visit the Derbyshire County Council Partners in Literacy website.

For more information on the national perspective of Family Reading Matters/Partners in Literacy visit the National Literacy Trust website.
