What we do
Projects - Family Learning
Backpack Project
- The programme consists of 6 x 2 hour sessions.
- The programme demonstrates to parents/carers of children aged 4-6 creative ways of helping to develop their child's interest and learning in literacy and numeracy.

- There are 3 modules of 2 weeks each:
Writing, Reading and Numeracy and these are supported by a backpack of books, games and creative materials that is loaned to parents during the course.
- There is an emphasis in this programme on making games and activities to support learning at home in a way that can be enjoyed by parents and children.
- Parents will be finding out about literacy and numeracy teaching and learning in school and how they can support this at home. They will be shown ways of doing this with a variety of resources, some of which they will already have, some of which will be included in the backpacks on loan to them, and some they may wish to make or buy.
- Their children will join parents for the final 30 minutes of the session to begin a joint, creative activity which can be finished at home.
