Our Aims

Key Achievements 2006/07

  • We worked in the top 30% socio-economically disadvantaged wards in Derbyshire and Derby City using approaches that remove barriers to learning.
  • 333 adults gained a nationally recognised qualification through ROWA! activity.
  • 581 adults and young people engaged in accredited learning through ROWA! activity.
  • 1520 adults and young people engaged in non-accredited learning through ROWA! activity.
  • 266 adults progressed into employment or further learning.
  • 146 new volunteers recruited and supported.
  • Books for Babies team delivered 6035 Bookstart packs to babies and reached 12,672 children through Bookstart Plus and Treasure Chest schemes.
  • Worked in 11 local authority areas to deliver School Based Training.
  • Better Reading Partnership - 14 months is the average reading age gain over the 10 week scheme.
  • Better Words - average 101 words sight vocabulary gain over the 10 week scheme.
  • We developed one new substantial project - 'Healthy Lifestyles' Offender Learning regional project.
  • We developed two innovative initiatives: 'Bling It On' and 'Blokes on Board'.
  • We achieved 4 new contracts for the Quality in Libraries Award.
