National Year of Reading

To celebrate the National Year of Reading's monthly theme for July - Rhythm and Rhyme - ROWA! is launching the E-poem Express.

The Derbyshire Poet Laureate, River Wolton, has very kindly started the poem for us and now we'd like to see it whizzing around in Cyberspace, stopping off at Derbyshire schools on its, to pick up another verse. The start of the poem will be sent to a primary school in each of the districts: High Peak, Derbyshire Dales, Chesterfield, North East Derbyshire, Bolsover, Amber Valley, Erewash and South Derbyshire and to two secondary schools. When a school receives it, they can finish the verse and add a new line to start the next verse then forward it to another school in their district. Let's see who can write the best and longest poem.

You can keep track of the poems' progress on the following pages:

Amber Valley

Bolsover

Chesterfield

Derbyshire Dales

Erewash

High Peak

North East Derbyshire

South Derbyshire

Derbyshire Secondary schools - south of the county

Derbyshire Secondary schools - north of the county

See the map to see where the poems have been travelling.
