Who we are

The Board

Read On - Write Away! (ROWA!) is a literacy initiative set up as an Independent Partnership, based in Derbyshire.

ROWA! has been in place since 1997 and has made an impact both locally and nationally, taking the idea of 'joined up' thinking to a new level. At a local level, partnerships have been forged which have made significant differences to communities and those who live in them. At a national level, Read On - Write Away! has shown a new way of creating meaningful and effective partnerships to offer the best service to all people.

ROWA! is a partnership of the following organisations:

Derbyshire County Council
Derby City Council
The National Literacy Trust
East Midlands Business Ltd

Each Board member has a very senior role in the organisation that they represent, and each has an equal role on the Board, bringing a different viewpoint to the strategy, playing a lively and committed role within the partnership.

The Board members are:

David Connor (Chair)
Deputy Strategic Director, Children's Services, Derbyshire County Council

Jonathan Douglas
